So I am starting down the slippery slope that is testing. I will be spending as much time on the alpha's as I possibly can. Though I am painfully behind in my kernel knowledge as it is.

I am going to be an RHCA.

I will be working over the course of the next year to complete my Red Hat Certified Architect. I will post about the preparation I do and verify if it was enough. I mean beyond the years of practice I have had.

An Effector in the Autonomic Control Loop

Reading the IBM Press book on Autonomic Computing. I really want to think of myself as an extension of this process. Even though I work in a call center, there is data to be collected and monitored. and being a part of the Autonomic process means containing these elements in a describable and agreed upon format to complete more automated tasks.

I suppose that as the number of cores increases, so will the amount of logging and analysis. In an effort to better equip myself to manage that kind of effort, I have decided to return to school. Starting off with some simple, remedial work in calculus, then moving on to something bigger and better in the world of engineering.

Using GnuCash

I am really looking at creating a new way to interface with GnuCash. Currently, you have to open it to make a single entry. Well, I don't really have either the patience or the bandwidth to do that and continue working with my other applications.

This blog entry is being made with a simple application that will make the post for me. i don't have to make a trip to the site, login and continue with the entry. I don't really need a preview or a confirmation that it looks exactly as I expect it to. I just want to post to my own blog without worrying about it. Now, if I could only make entries to my checkbook as simply as this, I would be much happier.

I don't think that it should be another tool though. I think it should be a part of gnucash, just lightweight. I will work on the feature list. Maybe I will even post it here. If you have any ideas on this email me. I would be interested in hearing them. If you are already working on it. Let me know. I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I just want to roll it.

Added a listserv for the band.

Every time one of my band mates sends an email, they send it to a barrage of email addresses. It is very difficult for me to explain that this is a highly inefficient and exposed.

Geoff has complained multiple times that he does not know which email is the correct one for me. Is this the answer to that issue? I think so.

So let me ask this question. Why is a myspace bulletin more effective than a simple email with the names and addresses of all of the people you know? Well, the answer is really quite simple. You are no longer responsible for verifying the address of each user. The relationship is one in which the receiver is responsible for one and only one point of contact, his or her self.

MySpace makes the user responsible. We need to make each person responsible for their own email addresses.

Saturday Morning is here and I am lonely.

I wish I was in Madrid with The Kids. I am really sad that I have been replaced, even if it is just for one show. There is really nothing better to let a person know that they are an expendable part of a team.
